Here’s How
To add or change your photo:
1. Click this link:- http://profiles.yahoo.com
2. Click the Change Photo link just to the right of the image.
The Select Photo window opens. Initially, your only choices will be the gray square and your avatar, if you have one.
3. Click the Add Photo link.
4. Click the Browse button and navigate through your computer’s file system until you find an image you want to upload.
5. Once you’ve chosen a photo file, click the Upload button to add it to the photos available for your profile.
A preview of the uploaded photo appears, including a dotted square outlining the currently selected portion of the image.
6. Manipulate the selection square to enclose the part of the image you want to use.
7. When you’ve got the part of the image you want to use within the selection square, click the Crop button.
The newly added photo appears in your photo carousel.
8. Repeat steps 2 through 6 to add a whole gallery of photos to your carousel.
9. Go to your “edit my profile” http://answers.yahoo.com/my/my_edit click “use my yahoo profiles picture” scroll down and press ';preview';, and then ';OK'; in the next screen.

The only way I know of how you can do this, is by making it in animation shop OR imageready..
On lunapics...you can upload your pic change the color and then keep uploading the pic and changing it to a different color then make an animated gif...all on the same program for free.

download this and use it to open your Bmap....you can the use a save as file type option to convert it to any recognized format including jpeg

Open the picture in microsoft paint. Take the option 'save as' You will find file extension options for various file types in the save window that opens. Select whatever you like. If you are using other operating systems, then most of the picture modifying softwares might be having the same option...hope this helped.
Although Paint will do it, you couldn't find a more useless program if you tried. Consider downloading IrfanView (free) and learn to be an expert in an hour. Head off yo my tutorials site http://pctutorials.at3host.com for some short videos on how to use IrfanView. There are more on Youtube. My site shows where to download Irfanview, how to install it and how to convert bad pictures into good ones. It's a lot of fun doing it. You'll find the tuts in the Graphics section and there are more to come.

What causes the desktop preferences to ghost out the choices to change my desktop picture?
Every time I try to change the picture on the computer desktop, I right-click, choose preferences, and then desktop. The background choices are all ghosted out. I can't even click ';Set as background'; on any pictures, because it doesn't show up. Any idea how to fix it? I'm not sure, but it sounds like you don't have the rights to do it. If you don't have the admin password, have someone that does change your user account to a power user or administrator.
